Genuine Thinkware power cables. Which one you need depends on how you want the camera powered and whether you intend to use parking mode. Select above.
Choosing the Right Cable
- Hardwiring Cable, Regular (3m) or Long (7m) — wires into the fuse panel and enables parking surveillance. Built-in voltage cut-off protects the car's battery. The 7m version suits larger vehicles or a routed install. This is what most people want.
- OBD II Power Cable — plugs into the diagnostic port. Also enables parking mode, but needs no fuse-box work, so it's the choice for leased cars or anyone avoiding permanent wiring.
- 12V Power Cable — the cigarette lighter lead. Powers the camera while driving only; parking mode won't work.
- F790 Hardwiring Cable — specific to the F790's Plugin mount, not interchangeable with the standard cable.
- Tesla Power Bridge Cable — for Tesla installations.
Parking Mode Needs Constant Power
This is the point people miss. A 12V cigarette lighter lead cuts out with the ignition on most cars, so the camera stops recording the moment you walk away. If parking surveillance is why you bought the camera, you need the hardwiring or OBD II cable.
Hardwiring installation is best done professionally unless you're confident identifying switched and constant fuses.
