Coilover Installation in Andover, NJ

Coilovers are only as good as the setup that follows them. A kit bolted on and dropped to whatever height looks right will ride worse than the stock suspension it replaced, wear tires unevenly and handle unpredictably. We install coilovers at our shop on Route 206 in Andover and set them up properly before the car leaves.

How we install coilovers

  1. Check the car first. We look over the top mounts, bushings, end links and wheel and tire fitment, and confirm the kit is right for the chassis before anything comes apart.
  2. Fit the kit to spec. The old struts or shocks come out, the new coilovers go in, and suspension fasteners are torqued to spec with the suspension loaded, so bushings are not left twisted.
  3. Set ride height corner by corner on level ground — to the height you want, within the range the suspension geometry can actually handle.
  4. Set spring preload and damping to a sensible starting point for how you drive the car, whether that is the street, track days or both.
  5. Check the sway bar end links, since lowering changes their angle and can preload the bar.
  6. Align the car. Geometry changes the moment ride height changes, so every coilover install finishes with an alignment on our rack.
