The G63 is the hardest case a street brake package gets: a tall, heavy body on a ladder frame with a great deal of power and no aerodynamic help slowing it down. All of that energy ends up in the rotor, and a one-piece casting of this diameter has nowhere to put it. The two-piece design lets the iron ring expand against a floating mount instead of fighting the hat, which is what stops the heat cracking and the pedal pulsation that follows.
