Overview

The iVolt Mini [BAB-50] powers parking surveillance from its own cell rather than the car's battery. Smaller and cheaper than the iVolt Xtra, with correspondingly shorter runtime.

Why an External Battery

Hardwired to the car, parking mode runs until the voltage cut-off intervenes to protect your ability to start the engine — usually a matter of hours. An external battery sidesteps that entirely: the camera draws from the pack, and your starter battery is never touched. It recharges while you drive.

Worth It If

• You park on the street overnight
• Your car has start-stop or battery management that makes hardwiring risky
• You've had parking mode cut out early or flatten a battery
