Overview

The S550 Shelby offers a lot for the money but falls short on finishing components — the fender liner being one. Ford left a gaping hole in the underbody, and that void pulls high-pressure air into the underbody when it would be far better evacuated out of the wheel well. Hence this kit.

Through CFD and on-track testing, these units improve fender evacuation, increasing downforce and decreasing drag. Combined with the Ventus 1 kit they reduced the coefficient of drag by 0.023 — a large reduction for a street car.

Produced from ABS plastic for OE-level appearance and longevity, and they bolt on like a factory part with minimal hand tools.

Note: brackets must be modified if running full-length jacking rails. Also works on a regular S550 chassis with slight modification.

The Engineering

The wheel well builds high pressure from the tire's interaction with the air at speed, and that pressure increases lift. The problem worsens with a front splitter diffuser, which both the GT350 and GT350R have. Improving fender well evacuation reduces both lift and drag. Part of the Ventus 1 kit, which focuses on drag reduction; the Ventus 2 and 3 kits target downforce.
