Overview

Front splitters produce front-end downforce without significantly increasing drag, by creating a large pressure delta between their top and bottom surfaces. This one was sized against the rear wing to hold a proper aero balance and reduce lap times.

The splitter is produced from carbon thermoplastic, the same material used in top-tier motorsport. It isn't brittle, so no cracking like carbon fiber or ABS, and it won't grab and bend under the car like aluminum. It abrades and takes a beating without losing performance or appearance.

The Engineering

Iterative design work extracted more performance from the splitter, air dam and diffuser combination, sizing the splitter and dive planes to counteract the rear wing and diffuser for a safe, effective aero balance. Part of the Ventus 2 kit for the 718 GT4, which boosts downforce significantly over factory while keeping the car street-usable through reasonable splitter protrusion and wing widths.
