Overview

Rear diffusers are extremely efficient downforce-producing devices when designed properly. This one blends function and form using carbon fiber, sheet metal and hard rubber, and fits both the 987.1 and 987.2.

Scan data, CAD and ANSYS Fluent analysis produced a functional and attractive diffuser. The three main planes are 2x2 twill autoclave-cured carbon fiber; the strakes are durable polyurethane for longevity.

The whole unit bolts to chassis locations through multiple sheet metal brackets — no drilling or fabrication required.

The Engineering

The diffuser and undertray tie together the rear aerodynamic package of the 987 Cayman. Combined with the front dive plane kit that forms the Ventus 1 kit — a solid downforce gain with minimal drag increase. In the Ventus 2 kit, paired with the front splitter and rear wing, the downforce increase is significant.
