Description
AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR SAE 250 is a 100% synthetic extreme-pressure gear lube for API GL-5 hypoid gear applications that need a higher-viscosity oil. AMSOIL points to off-road race trucks, rock racers and crawlers, competition tractors, funny cars, dragsters and heavy equipment. It comes in a 1 quart bottle.
What it does
- Wear protection: an extra-heavy additive treatment and shear-stable heavy synthetic base oils give it high film strength. It cushions metal surfaces and absorbs the impact of moving parts, and proprietary extreme-pressure additives form an iron-sulfide barrier on gear surfaces against wear, pitting and scoring.
- Fast protection: it contains no waxes that solidify in the cold, so despite its high viscosity it flows well and reaches gears and bearings quickly at startup. AMSOIL says the better fluidity cuts viscous drag and energy loss.
- Stays put: it is engineered for high-horsepower, high-torque conditions where gear lube slings off. It clings to gears and bearings through shock loading, high G-forces and steep ring and pinion angles.
Where limited-slip performance is required, AMSOIL recommends adding its Slip Lock limited-slip additive.
