OS Giken OS-250R V2 Gear Oil, 1 Liter Can
Description
OS-250R V2 is OS Giken's updated gear oil for its mechanical limited slip differentials. It is the successor to the original gold OS250-R, and as the old stock sells through it becomes the standard oil for all OS Giken mechanical LSDs.
What changed from the original OS250-R
- Better flow: according to OS Giken, it soaks into the clutch pack faster and lubricates more consistently under heavy heat.
- A blue tint, so you can tell it apart from the original gold oil.
- Fully compatible with the old formula, so it can be mixed with any OS250-R you still have.
- A pull-tab cap that seals better and helps the oil keep longer on the shelf.
Performance
Although it is a very heavy SAE 250 grade, it carries an 80W cold rating, so the friction discs are protected from the first corner. The base is PAO with a polyol ester, and OS Giken's sulfur-phosphorus-boron (S/P/B) additive package takes it past API GL-5, building an oil film that holds up under extreme pressure.
The oil is tuned to refine the timing of LSD lock-up, so engagement is progressive and predictable. Friction modifiers are included to remove chatter and vibration.
At SAE 80W-250, OS Giken positions it as the top choice of race teams for protection and durability, while it stays drivable on the street. Not recommended for transaxle applications.
