Overview

Front splitters produce front-end downforce with minimal drag increase by creating a large pressure delta between the top and bottom surfaces. Using scan data taken directly from the car alongside CFD, this splitter was developed to pair with the Verus UCW rear wing and comfortably handle the loads it sees. It mounts at multiple chassis locations for a strong, durable install, with all hardware locations recessed for improved aerodynamic performance.

The blade is produced from carbon polyweave, the same material used in top-tier motorsport. It isn't brittle, so it avoids the cracking common to carbon fiber and ABS, and it won't grab and bend under the car the way aluminum units can. It's also light and stiff — an ideal splitter material.

The air dam brings the splitter flat with the underbody to improve performance further, produced from sheet aluminum and powder-coated black for durability.

The Engineering

Properly designed front splitters greatly increase front-end grip. Iterative design work using state-of-the-art analysis software extracted more performance from the splitter and air dam combination, and sized the splitter and dive planes to counteract the rear wing and diffuser — creating a safe, effective aero balance, which matters since an unbalanced car is harder to drive at the limit.

This splitter is part of the Ventus 2 and 3 packages for the Mk5 Supra, which boost downforce significantly over the factory car while retaining street usability through reasonable splitter protrusion and rear wing widths.
