Overview

The Mk5 Supra's wind buffeting is notorious — drop the windows and past any reasonable speed it becomes unbearable, forcing you to close them again. This is the fix.

The deflectors alleviate the buffeting and look the part. They attach easily with 3M VHB double-sided tape, and each unit is produced from multiple pieces of pre-preg carbon bonded together, then clear coated in an automotive high-gloss finish.

Scan data taken in-house on the Verus shop car ensured proper contouring to the side mirror bases, and CFD confirmed the units work as intended without causing unnecessary drag or disrupting other aerodynamic devices.

The Engineering

The buffeting is caused by airflow around the Supra's A-pillar attaching and detaching while the windows are down, building pressure waves in the cabin. These deflectors ensure airflow detaches cleanly around the windows, stopping the issue — without interacting with the air enough to hurt aerodynamic devices downstream.
